I am experiencing more benefits from combining Meditation and EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques. By doing some rounds of EFT in the morning when I wake up, before meditating, my Mind is more Clear and Free from upsets and what to do for the day, leaving me more energy to focus and dive deeper in meditation. Giving me greater and deeper experiences of Peace.
Recommendation, before meditating, do some EFT on Current Stress Issues, then meditate.
Here is what three other folks have to say about combining Meditation with EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques…
1. EFT and Meditation – By Maggie Adkins
Years ago, Ondrea Levine suggested I do Loving Kindness meditation for myself for 30 days. It was a great idea and I finally embraced it and actually did it several years later! Every morning and every evening I said each of the following four times. Sometimes it was out loud and sometimes it was in my mind.
- May I be free of suffering.
- May I know the joy of my own true nature.
- May I be happy.
- May I be at peace.
It was a very powerful and life changing experience.
Enter EFT, stage left……………..
Recently, my mother and a friend both died within a week of each other. I could not bounce back like I wanted to. I had no energy. I cancelled a few appointments with clients because I felt I could not do the work. As a friend said, “You are out of it†– whatever “it†is. After several weeks of trying to cope, I went into retreat for a week. I stayed home but I didn’t answer the phone or see anyone, and I didn’t allow myself to work.
I found myself drawn, once again, to Loving Kindness. This time I did EFT and the Loving Kindness Meditation at the same time. I said all four of the affirmations at each tapping point and I did it anywhere from five to fifteen times a day.
After my week’s retreat – just seven days – I did not recognize myself. That was six weeks ago and the results have stayed with me. I have more energy. I am more creative. I walk around singing. I am doing things that I had put off for months and I’m happy to be doing them. I am so very happy to see my clients and the universe must know because more and more people are coming to me. I am doing a gratefulness ritual for the abundance in my life. In particular I am careful to be grateful for my money, whenever I pay a bill or purchase something. My relationship to food has changed.
Needless to say, I would highly recommend combining EFT and meditation practices to anyone, anytime, anywhere.

***** My suggestion is to do this…and then do your regular morning and evening meditation…repeating the above method through out your day. Like before you eat, when you go to the bathroom, while your at a stop light, when you go in the kitchen, you can be creative with the moments you choose.
*****Also, a quicker routine would be to tap on the thymus and the heart chakra together while repeating these four phrases. The thymus is about three inches below the center of your collar bones, the heart chakra about 2 to 3 inches below the thymus.
Re-Vision, Aug. 5, for the four statements above…felt some tuning needed for alignment with Laws of Attraction, we get what we focus on.
May I be free from suffering indicates still having it, and May I know my own true nature indicates not yet knowing it.
Re-Vision…with taping on the thymus and the heart chakra, simplifies this and is just as powerful. Then repeat…
- I am a Divine & Infinite Soul.
- I am a Peaceful & Joyful Soul.
Dear Friends…
I have been given a real gift recently, and I want to share it with all of you. It is simply one of the most powerful healing and transformational tools I have ever encountered (after meditation).
It is called EFT, (Emotional Freedom Technique). It is deceptively simple to learn and apply, but the results are simply stunning. Emotional and physical healings occur in a manner which is fascinating … unbelievable even. EFT is based on a very different understanding of why negative emotions are caused in our lives. It’s probably going to challenge some beliefs and assumptions that you have (just as it did for me) … but the results are unmistakable. This stuff really works … I’ve tried it on myself and others in my monastery with results that are too good to believe.
I’ll warn you though, EFT is perhaps one of the strangest / funniest looking procedures you’ll ever see. When first encountered it seems ridiculous … until you try it and see for yourself how beautifully it resolves the most complex of psychological / emotional, and even physical problems.
I’m amazed at how I got this gift — and it is REALLY such a GIFT! — here in a remote monastery in Sri Lanka. A senior monk returned from abroad and brought along the complete DVD set of EFT teachings. I’m truly grateful to him for sharing them with me and giving me a chance to learn this teaching. One way to show that gratitude is perhaps to spread the word about EFT.
This is very likely a tool I’ll be using for the rest of my life. In all my years of learning various meditation techniques, studying healing systems, self-development methods, plus the wide array of methodologies I’ve been exposed to during my training in Psychology and Human Resources Management … I’ve never come across anything as potent as EFT for rapidly diffusing complex emotional problems and associated physical issues. In fact for dealing with specific emotional issues (e.g. phobias, addictions, grief etc.) it’s probably a more appropriate tool than meditation.
Anyway….I don’t want to say too much (I think I already have!). If you are interested, please download and read the “EFT Manual”. You can download it for free from: Free EFT Manual & Newsletter
You can learn EFT just from this simple manual. There is also lots of other helpful material on the EFT website. However to really appreciate the power of this tool you’ll have to order the DVDs from EFT DVD Library. It’s a great set of DVDs … educational, entertaining and indeed transformational . These EFT people are altruistically motivated and allow the original buyer of the DVD set to make 100 copies for free distribution.
And these teachings are easy and even fun to apply. I feel it’s going to help many of you in lots of ways. Thats why I’m sending you this email.
So please accept this precious gift and read the EFT manual. And, if you can, order the DVDs … because they are really worth it (better than Hollywood Blockbusters actually!).
So I’ll end this…wishing you Emotional Freedom !
May you soar…

PS: It’s somewhat unusual for a Buddhist monk to be recommending a transformational tool that wasn’t explicitly taught by the Buddha. I venture to do so only because I’ve found that EFT has the potential to significantly reduce psychological and physical suffering. It does not promise Nirvana or Enlightenment (at least I don’t think so!). It does promise freedom from debilitating negative tendencies … and delivers fast! And to that extent perhaps it is congruent with the Buddha’s teachings that aim at the complete ending of all suffering.

3. Combining Modern Meditation with EFT Page 3 – By Pat Carrington – See Pat’s Meditation Articles too.
Meditation Makes Previously Buried Emotions More Accessible
Another way that mediation can help progress with EFT stems from the fact that those who commence meditation often find hidden emotions coming to the surface. Meditators often report experiencing pleasure, sadness, anger, love, and other emotions more fully than they did before and sometimes they experience emotions which had previously been unavailable to them, or recover buried memories that are emotionally charged. These memories or emotions can then be worked on productively with EFT.
Increased Sense Of Identity
People who meditate regularly often report that they have become more aware of their own opinions after commencing meditation, that they are not as easily influenced by others as they were before, and that they can arrive at decisions more quickly and easily. They may also be able to sense their own needs more accurately, and therefore become more outspoken and self assertive and more able to stand up for their own rights effectively. This natural flowering of a sense of self and of one’s own genuine rights works to assist EFT by allowing the person to tackle self-assertion and self-esteem issues much more quickly with EFT than they might otherwise do.
I find that in their EFT sessions, the person now tends to bring up core issues more readily and to have more courage dealing with them than they did before. They may also be more willing to address issues of self assertion with EFT where before they may have felt that this would be futile.
Ability to Separate From Others Where Necessary
One result of the increased sense of identity that comes with meditation is the person’s ability to separate from significant others when such a separation is called for. Meditation can be dramatically effective for counteracting pathological bereavement reactions, impending separation or divorce, the anticipated loss of children who are growing up and will soon leave home, etc. EFT can then be used to zero-in on specific painful thoughts associated with the impending (or actual) loss, and change them to positive and appreciative thoughts. The soothing effects of meditation can be an enormous help as it works in the background and we apply EFT in the foreground.
Marked Lowered of Irritability
Many meditating people become far less critical in their personal relationships within a relatively short time after commencing meditation. A large-scale study of CSM meditation at the New York telephone company, in which over 5,000 employees were taught this method, showed that a marked lessening of irritability and shortness of temper” was one of the most appreciated results of meditation.
I find it extremely useful to add meditation to a client’s EFT treatment if impulsive outbursts or chronic irritability are an important part of the picture. It is extremely useful to obtain the general lowering of irritability that comes with meditation so that we can move more easily from issue to issue with EFT.
Conclusions
To sum up the use of meditation together with EFT, we might say that this combination allows the person to approach any problem from two different angles at once –– the global approach of meditation melding with the specific approach of EFT, each technique augmenting the other. And, as the old saying goes,†The whole is (often) more than the sum of its parts.â€

*****For a little more understanding about the benifits of meditation, see what Adam Khan wrote…
What’s so great about meditation – By Adam Khan – Author and Blogger, his Blog – Crush Pessimism.com
IT TAKES A REGULAR investment of time to meditate — and time is one thing most of us feel we don’t have enough of. So why would anyone meditate? Are meditators just rebellious freaks? Or is there something to it? There are, surprisingly, several good reasons to spend the time:
1. Meditation produces a rare combination of increased alertness and profound relaxation. You become alert and deeply relaxed at the same time. You become more alert than your normal waking state and more deeply relaxed then you are when you’re asleep. This is a different state of mind and body than you get doing anything else. After meditating, you feel well-rested.
2. An important side-effect of meditation is a dramatic drop in blood lactate level. Lactate is related to anxiety. When people feel anxious and their blood is measured, they have high levels of lactate in their blood. And when researchers inject pure lactate into an otherwise calm person, the person becomes anxious. Sometimes it even gives them panic attacks. The experience of low blood-lactate is a wonderful sense of peace.
3. Using a machine that measures the amount of sweat on the surface of the skin (a measurement of stress of all kinds: nervousness, anxiety, anger, etc. because when human beings experience even the slightest amount of stress, their skin sweats), the skin is four hundred percent drier during meditation than it is before meditating. The amount of sweat on the surface of your skin while you are meditating is less than it is when you’re sleeping.
4. Meditation also lowers the cortisol level in your blood. Cortisol is a stress hormone. It is known as the stress hormone, although there are others. Too much cortisol is bad for your health. And most of us living in the modern, industrial world have too much of it in our system every single day. Lowering your cortisol level regularly is measurably and positively good for your health.
5. Almost all self-help techniques require a certain presence of mind, an ability to be calm and concentrate. For example, if you want to listen well, alter a habit, change the way you think, deal with conflict, and so on, you need to be here and remember to do it. So the calm you cultivate in meditation helps greatly in making other changes in your life.
6. It is like fasting from your normal state of daydreaming. It is, in a sense, waking up from the daydream and becoming aware that you were daydreaming and didn’t know it. The ongoing stream of thoughts and interpretations you have in the process of making sense of your world is a kind of daydream. You interpret the world, you don’t just perceive it. The technical term for this effect of meditation is deautomatization. The way you interpret your world is automatic. It is well worth making it less automatic. It makes you more capable of seeing things freshly and changing your mind about things you never would have even noticed before.
For these and many other good reasons, millions of people make the time every day to meditate. They don’t generally go around trying to get others to do it or even tell others they meditate. They simply do it for their own personal benefit. And you can too.
I hope this has shed some light on the benefits of Meditation and EFT for you. I know that I needed to understand personal benefits before adopting the use of these two powerful tools.
